"JACOB LANG: The History of an Immigrant and Pioneer" (Book - English Edition)

BOOK: "JACOB LANG - THE HISTORY OF AN IMMIGRANT AND PIONEER"

AUTHOR: GUIDO LANG

The aim of these 13 chapters was to contribute to enrich both the genealogy and micro-history, which are auxiliary sciences of History. They achieve their importance with the constant mass growth of the consume society. It aims to value the oral family tradition, which was inherited from our father - Lothário Lang, our grandfather - Frederico Carlos, our great grandfather - Frederico Guilherme and the patriarch - Jacob. The true story is based on the story of Jacob Lang, who immigrated together with his parents, on September 22, 1847 to Picada Café (at the time German Colony of São Leopoldo), with a view to finding new life possibilities. The narration seeks to rescue aspects of the epic of German colonization in Rio Grande do Sul / Brazil, in which the Lang family committed themselves.
The record, in the form of a report, documents history so that time, with the disappearance of generations, does not end up making it fall into oblivion. In addition, it keeps it alive, since the descendants wish, in the future, to know it as well as to know its origins, past, roots... We have, as a result, the commitment to register it to keep it in a historic moment. In which people turn to researching genealogy and family history. People, families, groups, people... without a history are susceptible to manipulation; they resemble trees, with thick trunks and shallow roots, which easily fall due to the action of the wind. We feeç ourselves in charge of recording the history of the humble people who in anonymity, braved the forests, sown fields, built cities, developed industry and trade, kept the traditions and customs.
The work “Jacob Lang - The Story of an Immigrant and Pioneer” is no exception. It reports the trajectory of a pioneer who crosses the ocean in order to find life options. The family history would be similar to that of thousands of German-Brazilian descendants who, coming to America in search of better living conditions, helped to occupy an immense area of Brazilian territory, which currently integrate the States of the Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Espírito Santo, Rondônia, as well as part of Paraguay and, most recently, Bolivia.
